Cards I've Made: Rachel

I've been a bit quiet on here lately, there is still a lot going on, especially wedding related things, but there are only so many pictures of organza flowers one can post. I've cut out another 874! So in the meantime, as I slowly bury myself in organza confetti, here is a card I created for my friend Rach, for her birthday. Alfonso popped in my head and told me he liked trains, so I decided to share. I only had heavily textured acrylic paper left, so I didn't end up being entirely happy it. You can tell yourself, rather optimistically, that you can outline text in black ink on this paper, but you can't, so it was all wibbley wobbley. Still, at least it has lots of personality! ;)

Bears In Jumpers & A Rockin' Robin

Day 348 of the Doodle Olympics: Bears in Christmas Sweaters!

Day 349 of the Doodle Olympics: As much as I enjoy drawing animals, and as much as I love dogs, I find drawing them tricky!

Day 350 of the Doodle Olympics: Boy river rafting.

Day 351 of the Doodle Olympics: Bunny doing a bit of night time skiing!

Day 352 of the Doodle Olympics: Rockin' Robin - *snigger* :)

Day 353 of the Doodle Olympics: Squirrel in huuuuge spectacles.

Day 354 of the Doodle Olympics: Little Piglet has fallen down on the ice, I don't think he cares though, he's having so much fun! :)

Doodle Olympics Update - Autumn Acorns & Falling Leaves

Day 306 of the Doodle Olympics - Obsessing over autumn right now, it's all about trees, leaves and squirrels.

Day 307 of the Doodle Olympics - Autumn also means that the smell of bonfires and fireworks linger in the air!

Day 308 of the Doodle Olympics - Another leaf tumbling on the breeze!

Day 309 of the Doodle Olympics - Little mouse collecting acorns... honestly I just had a real desire to draw acorns.

Day 310 of the Doodle Olympics - The back of a patterned rabbit. I started drawing a pattern... it looked a bit rude... so I turned it into a rabbit. I'm quite pleased with him though :)

Day 311 of the Doodle Olympics - Fortunately I won't have to experience any of this kind of thing this year, but it is hard to forget the memories of standing in the cold waiting for a bus that may never come. I remember one year, I was working in a bookstore that was a twenty minute bus ride from home, I had left work at 5.30pm and didn't get in until 9.10pm, cold and hungry.

Day 312 of the Doodle Olympics - Some days you just don't want to draw. This was was second attempt in the end, the first just kept going from bad to worse!

Water - Illustration Friday & Doodle Olympics Update

The topic for Illustration Friday this week was 'Water'. Usually I like to play around with the word to see what I can come up with, but this week has been so busy, I've had my parents come to stay and I've chosen my wedding dress, so I just haven't had space to think about 'water'. So instead I went with my curly waves, that I often use when illustrating water, it was a bit safe, but I do find painting them relaxing.

I'm also behind on my Doodle Olympics/Daily doodle Challenge update, so here it is!

Day 285 of the Doodle Olympics - I can only imagine I was feeling happy about something... I was watching Red Bull X Fighters on the TV at the time, it always makes me happy when they land safely, maybe that was it.

Day 286 0f the Doodle Olympics - Have you ever had the urge to draw something with one really big eye and one normal sized eye? I have.

Day 287 of the Doodle Olympics - A cat hiding in a boat. Isn't that what most cats would do? They hate water...

Day 288 of the Doodle Olympics - A rabbit bum! I was drawing a random fluffy circular shape, so you can guess where my mind went from there.

Day 289 of the Doodle Olympics - Halloween is coming! Although this reminds me more of the scene in Home Alone where he makes it look like there are adults in the house.

Day 290 of the Doodle Olympics - I have absolutely no idea!

Day 291 of the Doodle Olympics - A random bit of nature on a hill surrounded by a city.

A Rabbit, A Monkey, & A Sad Little Sackman

Day 278 of the Doodle Olympics - Bucky the Bunny is so tired, he has been in the library all night.

Day 279 of the Doodle Olympics - spooky gingerbread biscuits

Day 280 of the Doodle Olympics - Little Sackman is going on a journey, the moon is carrying him away through bubble clouds and circular rainbows.

Day 281 of the Doodle Olympics - Sad Little Sackman wants a sherbet Flying Saucer, but he has to climb the candy mountain first!

Day 282 of the Doodle Olympics - Alice meets the caterpillar.

Day 283 of the Doodle Olympics  - A tree house.

Day 284 of the Doodle Olympics - This suave little monkey is called Barry.

Rabbits, More Rabbits & A Banker

Day 236 of the Doodle Olympics - I have no idea why I doodled a clown, maybe that is what happens when you watch retro 'Home & Away'.

Day 237 of the Doodle Olympics - I don't always watch TV while I doodle, however, I may have been watching Babe when I decided to draw singing mice.

Day 238 of the Doodle Olympics - I've started to pay attention to nutritional information on packaging and some of it, in terms of being unhealthy, is shocking. I mean just general goods here, we aren't talking obvious things like chocolate and cakes. It also takes a ridiculous amount of time to work out your calorie intake. Although I think we should take responsibility for our own health, I do also have a problem with marketing materials and special offers pushing unnecessary unhealthy products on you once you are in the shop. Also, I'm curious about the addiction of unhealthy, fatty foods. I think my generation are possibly the first to experience complete freedom of convenience foods, and I wonder if this has had an affect on our willpower and the choices we make when eating. Here Mrs. Rabbit is being bamboozled by supermarket manipulation.

Day 239 of the Doodle Olympics - Mrs. Rabbit, having escaped the supermarket without ice cream and crisps, is working in the allotment so that she doesn't have to rely on convenience foods, but she is also having to deal with her demanding job and children.

Day 240 of the Doodle Olympics - In the end, Mrs Rabbit made a carrot pie. Eddie Rabbit can't wait to get stuck in.

Day 241 of the Doodle Olympics - Do bankers own the world? I was listening to something where someone said that banks should have never been free. This made me think. I do believe that if you are using a service, you should pay for it, but how would that work considering we are forced to have accounts. You need an account to get paid by an employer, to pay for bills etc, but what about the people that don't earn very much? What about those that lose their job and have to watch their pennies? £5 for example, may go unnoticed by most people, but to some it is still a crucial amount of money.

Day 242 of the Doodle Olympics - No thoughts or questions for day 242, just a bird bath.

A Whale That Likes Opera...

Day 159 of The Doodle Olympics - I had a picture in my head of a whale standing up in a hat... sometimes that is just how it works.

Day 160 of the Doodle Olympics - Even odd little bunnies make wishes - they would like to be a real bunny!

Day 161 of the Doodle Olympics  - It isn't just little boys that would like to be astronauts.

Day 162 of the Doodle Olympics - I'm still not too sure how to put my fabric and paper flowers together, so I've been looking at bouquets.

Day 163 of the Doodle Olympics - All this rain we've had has made me think about things beginning to grow, like sunflowers!

Day 164 of the Doodle Olympics - A penguin in a boat always brings a smile to my face when it is all grey and horrid outside.

Day 165 of the Doodle Olympics - Silly Humpty!

What else has been going on... Well the flower making has come to a bit of a standstill this week. I have finally written a review for A Bag For All Reasons and have started making notes on Adventures in Chocolate. I have started to think (roughly) about table plans for the wedding, it's early days but I'm just trying to get a rough idea of how our maximum number of guests might work. I've been buying wedding things from ebay, including sweet scoops and sweet bags. I've been taking photos and editing photos for the book reviews.
