Pancakes, Beanstalks, Textiles & Jelly

Day 47 of the Doodle Olympics - I think it probably says it all really. I was asking myself what to draw, and it turned into some kind of Mexican, wall hanging, rug, come woven textile thingy... and that there is technical jargon!

Day 48 of the Doodle Olympics - There is no reasoning or inspiration to this doodle... nada, it just is.

Day 49 of the Doodle Olympics - Well clearly this time I was inspired,by jelly!! Who isn't inspired by jelly, is is so full of joy, and movement, and you only ever eat it at parties, which are always fun. Please note I had no jelly :( I just happened to be thinking about jelly.

Day 50 of the Doodle Olympics - Inspired by an episode of Family Guy we were watching. We love Family Guy. I think this was a line from it, or something very much like it, but it tickled me. :)

Day 51 of the Doodle Olympics - Slightly inspired by Harry Potter, even though I was watching NCIS at the time.

Day 52 of the Doodle Olympics - Shrove Tuesday of course, except we didn't have any pancakes in our house - no don't feel bad for me, we have pancakes for breakfast on the weekend quite often. I didn't see the Maid Marian clip posted anywhere on Facebook this year though, that was disappointing.

Day 53 of the Doodle Olympics - Jack...

Last Week... In Which I Was Very Busy, Preparing For & Attending A Hen Party

So I didn't get around to writing my 'This Week' post for Friday, I had the photos taken but ran out of time, due to organising and going away for a hen party. So here I am playing catch up, and giving you a 'Last Week' post instead :) I also need to take more photos of my doodle a day images, so I can update those blog posts too, one post at a time though!
I made up little gift parcels for the hens, they included some sweets, but when I came to sort them out for wrapping, it turned out that the Drumstick lollies had started to leak, I couldn't put leaky lollies in, eurgh, so Fubby and I had to eat them instead ;)

The Hen's sash arrived, and I had lots of fun, sticking on shiny gems, and stars!

Painting little Zombie guys, that will hopefully appear on my site at some point.

Doodling names tags for the hen party parcels.

 The parcels.

My new InMe album arrived, always very exciting!!

Baking for the Hen Party - Snickerdoodles, and Mojito Cookies. :)

This Week... Cakes, Duck, Hair & Zines

Friday afternoon/evening saw me delving into, and impromptu cakey bakey sesh. It was Fubby's birthday, except it was also a leaving shindig at work, so he was coming home late. I was a bit bored, and it turns out I had everything I needed for cupcakes, hurrah!

It also turns out I had enough ingredients for snickerdoodles too. Both were a hit - yes even the cupcakes, I pimped them up with blackcurrant jam, and almond buttercream, bakewell cupcakes anyone? - result!

This week also saw my first book review on UK Handmade. you can read it here! :)

I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day? We don't go overboard, but we give each other cards, I tend to always make one. Last year it was a Star Wars theme, another year it was World of Warcraft. Beginning to run out of ideas now though :)

We stayed in and got ourselves the Waitrose Valentines Meal - Cheese tarts to begin with, followed by stuffed duck, with vegetables and potato rosti, and passion fruit panna cotta for dessert, very delicious, and very filling. We had also treated ourselves to Guylian chocolates because they were on offer, we didn't manage to finish all 32 of them though :)

I have new hair. I'm not a big fan of having my picture taken, but thought I would make an effort. There were some of me smiling, some of me being serious, some of me looking scared (of the camera), and some of me just being daft. I asked Fubby which one I should choose... he chose this one... thanks Fubby.

Very excited by my little parcel in the post. I happened to see a tweet by Lizzie Stewart, saying there were only 20 copies left of her Solo zine - so for second time in a week, spontaneity kicked in, and I made an impromptu purchase. I love it, witty and observational. Who knows if I will mange to get the next one - fingers crossed.

Cake, Cat, Valentines, & A Bit Of A Catch Up

Day 40 of the Doodle Olympics - A Nanna's house, although my Nan didn't have a cat, or that wallpaper.

Day 41 of the Doodle Olympics - Cake and tea, that is all.

Day 42 of the Doodle Olympics - Ollie, next door's cat. This is actually from a photo, as he usually puts me off drawing him, by snoring really loudly.

Day 43 of the Doodle Olympics - Everyone is gearing up for valentines day, and I just feel sorry for the posties, although admittedly, this one just looks like a very popular school boy.

Day 44 of the Doodle Olympics - From a photo again, as I was struggling with ideas again this week. I think this was at Bury St. Edmunds Abbey.

Day 45 of the Doodle Olympics - Fubby and I celebrate Valentines Day, but not in a huge way, we don't do presents, just a nice meal at home, and spending time together. Love is so many things, but just for the time it took to draw this, it was sherbet lemons. :)

Day 46 of the Doodle Olympics - True Story. This was a little bit inspired by Lizzie Stewart's diary - Solo, I'm not going to draw my own diary, I am no way, as talented or witty as she, but just wanted to pay homage.

This Week...Gigs, Glue Guns, & Books

On Friday night we went to The West End Centre in Aldershot, to see Dave McPherson play and acoustic gig. It was rather wonderful.
The rest of this week has mostly been about things arriving in the post.

First there was a book to review.

Then my new toy came - I can't wait to get gluing stuff!

Finally, we took advantage of the 24 hr Promotion on The Book Depository, where a limited number of a specific title, were put up for silly prices, each hour. Fubby bought me this, as I decided it would be nice to learn a bit of history, without having to buy a whole book on just one subject. I plan to expand my knowledge a bit, but taking baby steps :)

Just A Wee Little Forest

Day 39 of the Doodle Olympics - Oooh look, I am posting on the same day as I doodled. I would like to claim that is because I am suddenly more organised, but it is not true. The truth is, I am suffering from afternoon fuzzy head, symptoms include, staring into space, typos, spelling mistakes and forgetting what one is doing. Therefore all jobs that require more than one paragraph of typing, have been abandoned. Still at least the doodles are blogged up to date. :)

Pappy Lady, Moustached Mouse, Noah's Ark, & Chicken & Chips

Day 35 of the Doodle Olympics - I have a piece of wisdom to share, don't try and draw while watching a terrible, pappy, romance film, it will make your drawing pappy too - eurgh! :/

Day 36 of the Doodle Olympics - I can't seem to get enough of animals in clothes, especially those sporting a fine moustache, and carrying a briefcase. I bet he works in a bank.

Day 37 of the Doodle Olympics - I confess, this was more about drawing swirly waves... again... rather than about saving animals or Noah.

Day 38 of the Doodle Olympics - My dinner? No, if only, I had a salad. That isn't my plate either, although that is my dinner mat.

Friday 3 February 2012

Hmmm - Cold Penguins, Drunken Owls, & A Cleaning Peacock

Day 32 of the Doodle Olympics - So I was thinking about drawing a peacock, while I was hoovering the stairs... the end result being a feather duster peacock  -  obviously...

Day 33 of the Doodle Olympics - This is Eric, and he does not like the cold.

Day 34 of the Doodle Olympics - A drunken owl, shall we call him Reginald? I was in the middle of sketching him while listening to a bit of Dave McPherson, very exciting, as I am going to his gig tonight. The "Bom Bom" bits are in homage to Dave, they feature in a song called "Last Year", that I was listening to at the time. Is Reginald swaying, as he makes a drunken speech, or just wriggling, and shimmying to a tune only he can hear, I'm not sure, I think he should probably be bopping along.

This Week... Birthdays, Blogs, Books & Bracelets

Today's blog post is brought to you with the letter 'B'. How was that for alliteration? It wasn't planned either, I have only just noticed as I typed it in!
I thought it would be nice to do a weekly round up, I haven't decided if it will be an ongoing thing yet, ask me next week ;)
This week has been pretty quiet, other half has been getting over his cold, and we are trying to sort out our wedding catering.

Birthday! - We went out for a meal, to celebrate a friend's birthday. That is him there with one of his presents.

Blog Post - I was lucky to be interviewed and featured in the Sue Bulmer blog this week, that was very exciting. It was odd seeing my drawings somewhere other than my own blog. It was lovely that Sue was interested in my drawing project, I never expect anyone to want to read anything I say, even on here I always think I am chattering away to myself, the stats say otherwise though  - *waves at readers*... unless they are just trying to humour me ;)

Product Photos - I imagine you will be seeing more of these. I have an endless amount of product photos to take, but had to stop all of last week, due to a bulb situation. We now have two bright matching LED bulbs, no more filament breakage for me, no siree!

Finished - I am loving these books. Sorry to say, that like a lot of people, I didn't pick them up until the first one was put on television, but who cares, I am reading, and appreciating them now right? This one was so full of drama, but I won't divulge, I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone. I raced through it, but unfortunately I can't read the next one until my fella has finished reading it... I did buy them for him for Christmas after all. :)

Look out for another update on The Doodle Olympics, it will be coming at ya very soon!
