This Week... Figs & Painting

This Week... I made a pot from rolled up paper - just because. I started playing with some textile ideas but I'm not too sure where that is going yet. I had figs for the first time as just figs, not dried or as part of a meal, just figs. They aren't my favourite thing. I've been doing a fair few hours of painting too.

There was an old woman...

Day 194 of the Doodle Olympics - The Owl & the Pussycat. There is a bit of a nursery rhyme feel to the doodles this week, I really should be getting back to some more formal sketching, but how can I do that when I have Sing a Song of Sixpence going around my head.

Day 195 of the Doodle Olympics - There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe.

Day 196 of the Doodle Olympics - There was and Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly. It turns out my Fiance doesn't know this rhyme, I thought everyone knew it?

Day 197 of the Doodle Olympics - Sing a Song of Sixpence...

Day 198 of the Doodle Olympics - ... and because it was actually stuck in my head here is another.

Day 199 of the Doodle Olympics - Doodling some characters.

Day 200 of the Doodle Olympics - Day 200 feels like a bit of a milestone :) Pussy Cat Pussy Cat Where Have You Been?

Found - Recycled

This week has seen me a making pot out of rolled up paper and ripping old clothes into strips, so at some point I can try my hand at rag-rugging. So sticking with the theme of recycling and upcycling, here are a selection of interesting finds available online from designer-makers in the UK. As usual you can find the links to the items below.

This Week... Sausage Hotpot & Flowers

This week... I made my mum's sausage hotpot - super comfort food. I've had another book arrive and it's just beautiful, I'll be reviewing it at some point. Staying with reviews, I've another written up ready for editing, it took a while this time and involved some old school cut and paste to get it to come together. My honey bought me flowers, for no reason as far as I'm aware, he just wanted to let me know I was appreciated - awww, love him! I've also got our save the dates ready to print, I've been printing them on paper samples, so now we just need to order more paper - I can't show you those yet though :)

A Bear, Some Bees & Doggy Doo!

Day 187 of the Doodle Olympics - I thought I would have a break from posting small people doodles this week and go for something a little more eclectic, so here is a bear climbing a tree.

Day 188 of the Doodle Olympics - I had two images pop into my head as I was falling to sleep, so scribbled them down quickly in a notepad ready for redrawing. This was the first...

Day 189 of the Doodle Olympics - ... and this was the second... I don't know who they are.

Day 190 of the Doodle Olympics - We have been spending a fair bit of time walking alongside our local canal, and it is as though, as soon as the rain began to fall no one could be bothered to pick up their dog mess anymore. The fact is the rain doesn't wash it away very quickly, it is left there looking unsightly and ready for someone to walk in. It makes me very angry, shame on those dirty, disgusting, selfish dog walkers!

Day 191 of the Doodle Olympics - Penguin on holiday.

Day 192 of the Doodle Olympics - I've also been doodling some ideas around the idea of flora, so here is a flower.

Day 193 of the Doodle Olympics - More flora.

Also this week... I have some more 'Kids in Costume' Paintings available on Society6

Found - Racing Cars

I've become quite partial to F1 recently and although I wasn't getting muddy at Silverstone at the weekend, I did watch the qualifying and the race on television (Yes, we got so much done :/), so this week all of the items I've found are related to racing cars. As usual they are all items available from artists and crafters in the UK and links to them can be found below. :)

This Week... Pretty Presents & Chocolate Pancakes

This week... I spent some time with two of my favourite ladies and Gayley gave me my pretty bridesmaid present - super cute right? I spent a lazy Sunday with Fubby, I made us chocolate pancakes because that's just how we roll. I've spent A LOT of time, measuring squares, cutting out squares and folding squares into petals, eventually these will be, yes you guessed it, wedding flowers - folding paper is my whole life right now :) My ginger has suddenly put a spurt on. You may remember I had a bit of ginger in our kitchen that looked like it wanted to grow so I put it in a pot. Nothing happened for ages and I mean ages! I was on the verge of throwing it away as a lost cause, but then found, after rummaging around and prodding the soil a bit, a tiny green point coming through. It stayed the same tiny shoot for about three weeks, I thought it might be done, but then this, alright, it's still only small - but it is kind of huge too. I've also been organising, unfortunately I wasn't organising my own life (if only), I've been organising more titles to be sent out for review for UK Handmade.

Invasion Of The Small People

Day 180 of the Doodle Olympics - I have been playing around with kids in costumes... not literally, just drawing, and here is the dog costume. I've been painting the costumes freehand in acrylic, to start trying to get some painting practice in, you can see the result of the dog costume below.

Day 181 of the Doodle Olympics - So we are back with attempting to draw small people, I apologise if this goes on for a while. I plan to work on getting their proportions right, then I might try and get their eyes down, and if that goes well I might even try to make them look like the people they are supposed to look like :/

Day 182 of the Doodle Olympics - Ooh look there, it is another small person... pointing...

Day 183 of the Doodle Olympics - Small person with wonky eyes looking at something.

Day 184 of the Doodle Olympics - Small person in nappy (or diaper for any of my American friends). :)

Day 185 of the Doodle Olympics - Small person eating brains... no not really :) That is chocolate from an eclair around his mouth, not brains.

Day 186 of the Doodle Olympics - A quick doodle of something other than a small person, just in case it was getting a bit tedious. I'm a bit frustrated, I know I just need to practice, but it is hard to not to be doing as well as I've done before. I know, practice, practice, practice!

What else has been going on this week... As I mentioned above I've started painting freehand with acrylics. I think sometimes the temptation is to sketch everything first, to get it right before slapping the paint down, well I'm just slapping the paint down, and I'm really enjoying it. These guys below, can for now be found in my Society6 shop as prints, cards and phone skins, and there are a few more to follow!
